Director David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation, Lights Out) was joined by screen writer Gary Dauberman and cast members Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, and Odessa A’zion and PlayStation’s Carter Swan to discuss their upcoming horror movie, Until Dawn.
Until Dawn is based on a video game of the same name. The story is in the same vein as Groundhog Day and Happy Death Day in that our protagonists must relive the same day everyday when they awake. What appears to be the catch for horror fans is that each death and night brings about a different horror genre our young cast has to survive. Or not. This is a horror movie, after all.
Sandberg and Rubin let the fans in attendance know they were excited about working with practical effects. Rubin especially enjoyed reacting to items that were really in the shot with her. Dauberman was inspired by taking the tropes of other sub-genres and using them in this movie. Filmed in Budapest, the movie just finished filming in October. Able to finish production quickly, Until Dawn will be in theaters on April 25, 2025.
