One year after the premiere of Bloody FM’s Dead Space: Deep Cover, the Bloody Disgusting team is thrilled to announce that the scripted podcast has been nominated for a Webby!
Dead Space: Deep Cover is nominated in the “Podcast – Original Music Score / Sound Design” category, at this year’s 29th Annual Webby Awards, which honor the best of the internet.
Voting is open through April 17, and you can cast your votes now!
Set in the expansive universe of the Dead Space video games, Dead Space: Deep Cover follows journalist Emmeline Ayuba as she searches for her sister, who reportedly joined a local Unitologist church. As she delves into the mysterious world of this church, she uncovers internal conflicts, strange customs, and the personal sacrifices she must make to reunite with her sister.
Dead Space: Deep Cover is created in partnership with EA & Motive Studio. The 12 episode scripted podcast series is a full-cast audio drama podcast with original music, immersive sound design, and a gripping story, and it’s available now wherever you listen to podcasts.
The series was written by Ben Counter, who has written over a dozen novels, including several official Warhammer 40,000 novels. Ben has also worked on several Bloody FM podcasts like SCP Archives, and Mayfair Watchers Society.
Counter said in a statement, “In the case of Dead Space: Deep Cover, it’s the Church of Unitology, which was my favorite aspect of the games’ background and my first choice for a focus of the podcast. I got to explore the Church and break some new ground. Similarly, using a new setting of Ganymede gave me somewhere to gleefully trash without clashing with the established timeline of the franchise.”
The Composer for Dead Space: Deep Cover was Mattie Roi Berger, a New York-based composer and songwriter, while the Sound Designer was Brad Colbroock, a SoCal podcaster and foley artist with a passion for audio drama.
Pacific Obadiah, Bloody FM’s Head of Podcast Programming, said, “I’m incredibly proud of our team, and all the hard work they’ve put into this show. I’m a big fan of both Brad & Mattie, and I’m excited to see them get recognition for their hard work! And, as a life-long fan of Dead Space, it’s great to give something back to the community, and the franchise!”
