‘Hallow Road’ Trailer Reveals A Parent’s Worst Nightmare

hallow road

Writer and director Babak Anvari is known for his harrowing tales about humanity under duress, whether in his debut feature Under the Shadow or his adaptation of the short story Wounds. Now, Anvari is crafting a parent’s worst nightmare in his latest film Hallow Road, which had its world premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film and TV Festival. Now, XYZ Films has released the first official trailer for Anvari’s unique horror story about two parents and their desperation to help their daughter.

In the film:

Two parents receive a distressing late-night call from their teenage daughter, who has just accidentally hit a pedestrian. They jump in their car, racing to get there before anyone else stumbles across the scene. As they head deeper into the night, disturbing revelations threaten to tear the family apart as they soon realize they might not be the only ones driving down Hallow Road.

Now watch the official trailer:

Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Matthew Rhys (The Americans), and Megan McDonnell (Normal People) star in the new Halloween-set nightmare.

In her review of the film from SXSW 2025, Dread Central’s Mary Beth McAndrews wrote,

With his latest film Hallow Road, [Babak] Anvari crafts the most upsetting film of 2025 so far, fueled by spine-tingling sound design, incredible central performances, and creative use of a single, cramped location.

Hallow Road comes to theaters this summer from XYZ Films.
