‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Director on Brandy’s Return: “You’ll Have to Go See the Movie”

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. will reprise their roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson in I Know What You Did Last Summer, but what about Brandy Norwood?

The pop star survived I Still Know What You Did Last Summer as Julie’s best friend, Karla Wilson, and has expressed interest in returning for the legacy sequel, but will she?

“You’ll have to go see the movie,” director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) teased People.

The Fisherman slashes back into theaters on July 18.

When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer… and is hell-bent on revenge.

As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.

Chase Sui Wonders (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Madelyn Cline (“Outer Banks”), Sarah Pidgeon (“The Wilds”), Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid), and Tyriq Withers (Him) lead the new cast.

Robinson co-wrote the script with Sam Lansky, based on an earlier draft by Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.).

Jim Gillespie directed the 1997 original I Know What You Did Last Summer, which was written by Kevin Williamson (Scream) and based on Lois Duncan’s novel.
